2010 Dorman Marching Band Accomplishments

The Dorman Marching Cavaliers began their 2010 competition season on September 25 at Irmo High School’s Palmetto Esprit de Corps-Invitational Band Festival. The Dorman Band received an Excellent rating and awards for 3rd place in Class, Best Percussion, and Best Music.

On October 2nd the Dorman Band competed at the James F. Byrnes Tournament of Bands and earned a Superior Rating, Best Percussion and 4th place in class 4A.

The following week the Marching Cavaliers performed at the Pendleton High School Marching Classic. The Dorman Band received awards for Best Color Guard and Best Drum Line. The Cavaliers finished 2nd overall in prelims and 3rd overall in finals.

On October 16th the Marching Cavaliers traveled to North Carolina to participate in the Mooresville HS Marching Band Classic. There the Dorman Band received 2nd place Drum Major and Music, Best Drum Line, a Superior rating and 3rd place.

The marching band traveled to Ardrey Kell High School in Charlotte, NC on October 30th. The Dorman Band received the following awards: 2nd place Drum Major, 2nd place Color Guard, 1st place Percussion, 1st place Overall Effect and 1st place in Class 4A.

November 6th was the State Band Director’s Association 5A Marching Championships. During the preliminary round the Marching Cavaliers received a Superior Rating with a score of 92.1, finishing 3rd in prelims and earning a place in the finals. For the preliminary round the Dorman Band had the 2nd highest Visual Execution score and the highest Overall Effect score! In finals, the Marching Cavalier's score improved to 92.425 on their way to a fourth place finish! This is the highest placement for the Dorman Band in seven years!

On November 11th the Marching Cavaliers competed in the Bands of America Grand National Championships held in Indianapolis, IN delivering their best performance of the year earning a Division II rating!
