Current Events!  

January 30th from 2-7:30 PM we have the CIPA circuit drumline and colorguard show in the arena.

February 18th at 7 PM is Bandorama 2010! Come out and see all of the band performing ensembles for Spartanburg School District Six grades 5-12! The concert will last just over an hour. We have a hotdog supper starting a 5 PM! For $5 you get hotdog, drink, chips, and something sweet! Come early and support the band! Click here for the Bandorama 2010 flyer!

 

 

Congratulations to the students, parents and staff on an outstanding marching season. The Marching Cavaliers made the finals of the SCBDA 5A State Marching Championships finishing in seventh place! This wrapped up a tremendous competitive season for the Dorman Band! See below for some of our results. Thank you to everyone that made this season such a success!

 

The Dorman Marching Cavaliers competed in two contests in the Charlotte area on Saturday, October 24, 2010.

At the Pirate's Cove Classic at Porter Ridge High School the Dorman Band earned a Superior Rating while placing 1st in General Effect, Percussion, Guard, Music, Marching and Drum Major for Class 6A. The Marching Cavaliers were awarded 1st Place in Class 6A, Overall Percussion Champion and overall Grand Champion!

At the Hickory Ridge Festival of Bands, the Dorman Marching Band placed first in General Effect, Music, Marching, Guard and Percussion for Class 5A. The Marching Cavaliers were awarded 1st Place in Class 5A and the overall Grand Champion for the contest!

 

On Saturday Oct. 17th the Dorman Band was the featured halftime group for the televised Wofford/Appalachian State football game.

That evening the Marching Cavaliers competed in the Chesnee Eagle Classic winning Best Color Guard, Best Drum Line, Best Horn Line and First Place in Class V.

The Dorman Band was also awarded High Effect, High Music and Class Champion of the Gold Classification (IV-V). Our Dorman Band parents were selected as the Best Pit Crew for the competition.

The Dorman Marching Cavaliers were crowned Grand Champion of the 20th Annual Chesnee Eagle Classic over all competing bands! Way to go Marching Cavaliers!!

The Dorman High School Marching Cavaliers competed on Saturday October 10th at the Bands of America Regional at Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland. The Marching Cavaliers were awarded the High Overall Effect award and first place for Class AAAA. The band went on to a seventh place finish in the finals that evening. Congratulations to the members of the Marching Cavaliers on their outstanding accomplishments!

The Dorman Band program recieved the South Carolina Band Directors Association Outstanding Performance Award for 2009! This award is given based on success in Marching, Concert, Region/All State and Solo & Ensemble Festival. We scored 100 out of a possible 100 points to earn this honor this year! Congratulations to all of students that participated in these events!

 

 

Gable MS

Congratulations to the Gable Middle School Honor Band for their outstanding performance at Concert Festival. They earned an Excellent Rating on stage and Superiors in the sight-reading room! Way to go!!

 

DHS
Congratulations to our Wind Ensemble for their performance at SCBDA Concert Festival at Lexington HS on March 25, 2009. The band received straight Superior ratings in class V! Congratulations to all students and staff for this accomplishment!

 

DFC
Congratulations to the Dorman Freshman Campus Symphonic Band for their performance at SCBDA Concert Festival at Woodmont HS on March 26, 2009. The band received two Superior and one Excellent rating for their stage performance and two Excellent ratings for their sight-reading performance. Congratulations to all students, Ms. Hembree and Mr. Burton for this accomplishment.

The Dorman Marching Cavaliers competed in the State 5A Marching Band Championships on Saturday, Nov. 1st. The Dorman Band qualified for the finals with a Superior rating. The Marching Cavaliers had the 2nd highest Visual Effect score in the preliminary competition. The Dorman Band finished in 7th place in the finals of the State Marching Championship. Congratulations to all of the band members on their outstanding success this season!

The Dorman Marching Cavaliers competed in the Pirates Cove Classic at Porter Ridge High School in Charlotte, NC on Saturday, October 25th. The Dorman Band won Best Drum Line, Best Color Guard, Best Drum Major, High General Effect, High Marching, and High Music in Class 4A. The Marching Cavaliers scored a Superior Rating and were 1st Place in Class 4A.

We are using a new secure online data base for our band program this year!

It is called CHARMS! Students and their parents can access/update their personal information anywhere through a personal login via the internet. Once on the charmsoffice.com website, choose the box for Parent/Student login. Type DormanHSBand in the box and hit enter.

Enter your student's password. Once in the site you can change password, update personal information, check finances, and much more!

NEW CALENDAR THROUGH August 2010 IS HERE!!

 

The Dorman High School Indoor Drumline traveled to Dayton, OH for the 2009 World Championships. After being promoted to compete in a more advanced class this season, the Dorman drumline finished 10th amongst a very accomplished pool of contenders. This event concludes the Dorman Indoor drumline's very successful season, where we won our 3rd State Championship, 4th consecutive Carolina Indoor Performance Association Circuit Championship, and 2nd consecutive World Championships Finals appearance.

Congratulations to our Dorman Indoor Drumline!
